Chapman Mountain Preserve in Huntsville, Alabama was recently opened to the public in April 2018. Chapman Mountain Preserve is a tract of land just off of highway 72 that was purchased a few years ago by the Land Trust of North Alabama. It currently has three miles of hiking trails with more trails coming in the future. The preserve will eventually have primitive camping and disc golf in the future as well.
Trail Head
The trail head is located in the parking area
Difficulty
The trails are fairly easy.
Hiking the Trail
You can start on any of the trails that you want and hike them all, giving you a three mile round trip. Eventually the preserve will have several more miles of trails.
Scenery
Scenic Alabama woodlands, plenty of pine trees, and a small stream.
Trail Maintenance
The trails are new and well maintained
Facilities
There is a porta potty on the site. Eventually the preserve will have disc golf and primitive camping in the future (I think, you can contact the Land Trust of North Alabama for more information).
